Saturday, February 27, 2010
Real Madrid's Cristiano Ronaldo does not rate Barcelona's Lionel Messi as one of his top three players in the world.
Ronaldo was asked by Corriere dello Sport about who he thinks are the best three players in football.
Ronaldo surprisingly omitted reigning World and European Player of the Year Messi.
He told Corriere dello Sport: "Kaka, Rooney and Drogba are the best players in the world."
The Real winger was also asked about his team's title chances.
Ronaldo said: "Barcelona have to come and play at the Bernabeu, and we are confident that we will stop them."
Meanwhile, a Spanish survey has revealed that Messi surpasses both Ronaldo and Rooney in terms of media value.
A team from the University of Navarra rated the Argentina international as the player with the highest profile in the world for the second year running.
Second was Real Madrid's Ronaldo, and third Manchester United striker Rooney.
Real's Brazilian playmaker Kaka was fourth ahead of the Liverpool pair of Spanish striker Fernando Torres and English midfielder Steven Gerrard.
Ivory Coast centre forward Didier Drogba, Brazil winger Ronaldinho, Spanish central midfielder Xavi and Sweden striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic completed the top ten.
