Real, Barca to swap Kaka, Ibra?
Friday, July 23, 2010
Real Madrid are hoping to enter into talks with Barcelona to set in motion a Kaka for Ibrahimovic exchange deal.
If the speculation turns out to be true, it would definitely be the most sensational transfer story of the summer.
Both players arrived in Spain on the back of significant hype but have failed to sparkle in La Liga. Kaka was beset by injuries for large parts of last season and was completely overshadowed by Cristiano Ronaldo.
Ronaldo scored an incredible 26 goals in 29 appearances for the los Blancos while Kaka had a paltry return 8 from 22 starts.
The Brazilian is reportedly not very highly rated by new coach Jose Mourinho and could find himself on the sidelines if he stays in Madrid.
Ibrahimovic fared better than Kaka - scoring 16 goals in 29 appearances, but was shoved out of the limelight by the exploits of Xavi, Iniesta and of course, Lionel Messi.
He ability to command a regular starting place is under serious doubt for next season after the arrival of David Villa from Valencia in the summer.
Now El Mundo Deportivo claims Mourinho is planning to offer Kaka to tempt Barcelona into parting with their striker.
The bitter-rivals rarely trade players directly, but in this case it would be a case of cutting their losses for each club.
